According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would let users message users without an account.
As part of the company's Google Play Beta program, the functionality is currently under development and has not yet been released to Android phones.
Although text messages could be sent, the new function does not yet enable users to transfer media items, including pictures and videos, to those without a WhatsApp account.
