Overview of the parking problem
The Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi Railway Station has long been plagued by chaotic traffic and irregular parking. With thousands of vehicles arriving each day to drop off or pick up people, the absence of regulation caused considerable congestion, particularly during peak hours.
Vehicles frequently parked at the station for long periods of time, blocking lanes and forcing others to stop far from the station entrance. This not only impeded traffic flow but also inconvenienced passengers, many of whom were forced to walk considerable distances with bags.
