Who can open an SSY account?

Parents or legal guardians can open an account for a girl child under 10 years of age. A maximum of two accounts per family is allowed (one for each daughter), except in case of twins/triplets.

What is the current interest rate for SSY?

As of Q1 FY 2025–26 (April–June), the interest rate is 8.2% per annum, compounded yearly and tax-free.

What is the maturity period of SSY?

The account matures after 21 years from the date of opening or upon the girl’s marriage after she turns 18.
