Indian Railways has made travel planning easier by preparing the first reservation chart 10 hours before a train departs (earlier it was much closer to departure time).
In the past, travelers, particularly those with RAC or waiting list (WL) tickets, had to wait until the final few hours to find out if their ticket was confirmed. Stress and confusion at the last minute resulted from this.
