The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is about to start a new project to update Aadhaar biometrics for children—directly through schools.
Children must update their biometric information in Aadhaar when they turn five. As fingerprint and iris scans are not included in the initial Aadhaar provided at birth, this also covers them.
Currently, 70 million children in India—more than 7 crore—have not finished this required upgrade.
